Grey squirrels are a non-native species and it is against the law to release one once caught, so the work is done under the rules that apply and traps have to be checked at the required intervals. Anyone offering to catch and release is telling you something that is not legal.

Timing matters too. Where there is a drey with dependent young, sealing the roof first traps them inside, and you get noise, smell and a worse job a fortnight later. The order is deal with the animals, then close the way in - never the other way round.
