Bed Bug Treatment · Bexley
Can Bed Bugs Spread From One Bedroom to Another?
Yes, and usually because somebody moved. Bed bugs are poor travellers on their own; almost all room-to-room spread is carried.
They Do Not Wander Far Unaided
Bed bugs harbour within a few feet of the host and have no reason to leave. Left alone, a population in one bedroom stays in that bedroom for a long time and simply grows denser.
They will spread outwards eventually — along skirting, behind a wardrobe, through a ceiling void or a shared wall — but that is slow and it is not how most second rooms happen.
The Real Cause: Moving to Sleep Elsewhere
Somebody is bitten, gets fed up, and moves to the spare room or the sofa. They take bugs with them in nightclothes, on a duvet, in a pillow, or simply on the person, and within a week there is a population in the new room.
This is the single most common way a one-room job becomes a two-room job, and it happens between the phone call and the visit more often than people believe. Stay in your own bed. It feels like the wrong advice and it is the right one.

The Other Ways Rooms Get Involved
Bedding or clothing carried to another room and put on a bed or a chair. Laundry piles left in a bedroom rather than taken straight to the machine. A suitcase stored in one room after being unpacked in another. Furniture moved between rooms. And a child who starts sleeping in a parent’s bed.
Vacuum cleaners occasionally, which is why the cylinder is emptied into a sealed bag and put in the outside bin rather than left indoors.
How to Contain It Before Treatment
Everyone stays in their own bed. Take bedding straight to the machine in a sealed bag rather than carrying it through the house, wash hot and dry hot. Do not move furniture out of the affected room. Do not store the mattress on a landing.
Do not bag up belongings and move them to another room "to keep them safe" — that is a reliable way to relocate the problem, and it is well intentioned every time.
What Gets Inspected
Every room somebody sleeps in gets checked whether or not there are bites in it, because the point of the inspection is to catch a second room before it is established rather than after.
Pricing is £220 for the first room and £120 for each additional one, so adding a room on the day costs £120 while finding it three weeks later costs £220 as a fresh job. That is the entire argument for having the spare room looked at while we are there.

Yes, any room somebody sleeps in. Adding a room on the day is £120; finding it later is £220.
