Rodent Proofing · Bexley
What Does £180 of Rodent Proofing Include?
£180 buys one hour on site. Here is what an hour realistically closes, what it is closed with, and the work that needs a different trade.
What an Hour Typically Closes
On a standard Bexley terrace or semi: two or three pipe collars where soil and waste pipes leave the wall, a damaged or missing air brick grille, the gap under a garage or side door, a service entry where cables come in, and often the junction where an extension meets the original brickwork.
You are told at the start what fits in the hour and what does not, so the time goes on the openings that matter rather than the ones nearest the front gate.
What It Is Closed With
Materials rodents cannot gnaw through — stainless mesh, metal grilles, mortar and purpose-made collars, depending on the opening.
Not expanding foam. Mice chew straight through it and rats treat it as an invitation, and a foamed hole looks closed while doing nothing at all. If somebody has already foamed your gaps, that is worth knowing before you assume they are dealt with.

Rats, Mice and Squirrels Only
Those three, and that is deliberate. Sealing a hole reliably solves something for rodents; it does not for insects, which arrive on people, on furniture and through openings no building can close. We do not sell insect proofing because it would not work.
What Needs a Different Trade
A cracked or collapsed drain run. Tiles that need re-bedding, or an eaves course that has failed along its length. Fascia or soffit boards gone soft with rot. Brickwork wanting repointing.
Those are a drainage contractor, a roofer or a builder. We will identify it and describe it clearly, but quoting proofing for something that needs building work would be charging you for a problem that would still be there afterwards.
Treatment Comes First
Proofing an occupied building seals rodents inside, which is worse than where you started. Unless the property is already clear, the treatment happens first and proofing follows.
Straight after a rat or mouse treatment is the best moment to buy the hour, because it is obvious at that point where they were getting in.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if it takes longer than an hour?
You are told before we start what fits. Anything beyond it is agreed with you, not added afterwards.
Do you use expanding foam?
No. Rodents chew through it. We use materials they cannot get through.
Can you proof against insects?
No. We proof against rats, mice and squirrels, because for insects it would not work.
