Carpet Beetle Control · Bexley
How Much Does Carpet Beetle Treatment Cost in Bexley?
Carpet beetle treatment is £180 for the first room and £60 for each additional room - the same figures as carpet moth, for a pest that needs a different treatment.
The Published Price
First room £180, each additional room £60. Identical to carpet moth, which is exactly why it is worth being sure which one you have before booking either.
Same Price, Different Job
Because the two prices match, people assume it does not matter much which pest it is. It matters. Carpet beetle larvae behave differently, live in different places and frequently come from a source that carpet moths do not have.
Send a photograph before you book. A carpet beetle larva - a "woolly bear" - is short, banded and noticeably bristly, and curls up when disturbed. A carpet moth larva is a smooth pale caterpillar, often in a silky case. That one photograph decides where the treatment goes.

The Bit That Is Often Not in the Room
Carpet beetles very often arrive from above. An old bird nest in a roof space, a loft full of stored wool and feathers, or a dead bird in a chimney or soffit will keep supplying a house indefinitely.
If that is the situation, treating the lounge carpet every year is a permanent arrangement rather than a solution. Removing the source is the actual job, and we will tell you when the survey points at the roof rather than the floor - even though it makes the immediate job smaller.
Why It Gets Found Late
In houses with an older felt or hair underlay beneath a modern carpet, the larvae feed on the underlay and the carpet above looks fine until the damage is well advanced. Scattered small holes rather than one spreading bald patch is the usual pattern, and it turns up in stored clothing and along seams as well as in the floor.
Clothing and Stored Fabrics
Wardrobe floors, drawers and boxes of stored textiles are part of the same job when they are in a treated room. Where the problem is mostly in stored clothing rather than the carpet, say so - the approach changes, and so does the advice about what to wash and at what temperature.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know it is beetle and not moth?
The larva. Beetle larvae are short and bristly; moth larvae are smooth. Send a photo and we will confirm it.
Why does the source sometimes have to be a bird nest?
Because a nest or a carcass in a roof keeps supplying larvae. Treating the room alone will not end it.
Is it the same price as carpet moth?
Yes - £180 first room, £60 each additional. The treatment differs even though the price does not.
